Another topic we touch upon is how the labour market has made it possible for many old industrial jobs, such as those from the closed shipyard, to be transformed into new, future-oriented jobs - and mostly with the same employees. We make a total of 15 stops during the walking tour. The tour lasts 2 hours. The main theme is the city's development from an industrial hub with loud streets and heavy traffic in the city center to a bicycle and pedestrian-friendly hub. We walk through three areas: The city center, where the transformation is complete. The former industrial area, located between the city center and the harbor, currently undergoing total reconstruction. The harbor, which is partially reconstructed but not yet completed. Along the way, we also discuss how to create new jobs and affordable housing for young people. During the tour, you get a wealth of information about how this process was initiated and guided by the municipality of Odense to shape its own future. You will also touch on how the citizens of Odense are reacting to these changes and engaging in the ongoing, interesting debate about them.

We make several stops at the harbor. One of them is the harbor pool. We will take a look at the pool from the outside and talk about it, but we won't go inside. The pool is a good example and symbol of the transformation the Odense harbor is undergoing, from an industrial harbor to a harbor with housing, culture, and activities focused on the "ordinary" citizens of the city. We will also explain the city's housing policy, which aims to ensure access to housing for all social classes in society.

The North Atlantic House in Odense is an example of the increasing cultural offerings in the harbor area. The North Atlantic House promotes cultural cooperation between the Nordic countries, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands through events, exhibitions, and collaborations. The building also features interesting architecture.

In the summer of 2021, the Odense City Museum opened H.C. Andersen's House. Designed by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the museum combines the Danish half-timbered tradition with Andersen's fantastic stories. The house is an important part of the city's downtown development.
